Jenni Odom is a self-proclaimed “birthday party person.” But her little man, River, made the theme of his 3rd birthday easy for her when he asked for a piñata party. Since this was the first year River got involved in his birthday, Odom let him call the shots for a cactus-themed fiesta at their Little Forest Hills home.

River’s favorite color inspired his ombre cake from Society Bakery topped with festive garland from Brute Tenacity. The multicolored piñata from Party Bazaar filled with blow-up swords, bubbles, laser lights, plastic dinosaurs and candy was a hit with River and his buds.

Odom called River’s favorite restaurant — Taco Joint — to cater a DIY taco bar for the 30 guests. Mini piñatas from Party Bazaar, cacti, greenery from Blue Lotus and DIY garland livened up the food table.
