Little Logan might not have had opinions on his first birthday party, but his mom, Jessica Panko, was chomping at the bit to host a Kentucky Derby-themed brunch to celebrate Logan’s first year. As the owner of an event planning company called Sprinkle of Confetti, Panko planned a southern soiree for 35 guests at her Plano home.

Logan and his junior jockeys ran for the roses with stick horse favors from Sew & So Handmade and pony-themed games such as pin the tail on the horse while adults played horseshoes. Guests tasted victory with a chocolate cake with salted caramel filling while Logan munched on a vanilla smash cake with buttercream icing by Jennifer Hardman.

Panko arranged flowers from Central Market into centerpieces surrounding the food spread. Adult guests donned their biggest hats and most colorful bowties, sipped mint juleps and sweet tea and dined on Kentucky hot browns, spiced pecans, bourbon meatballs and cheese platters.
