In celebration of the New Year, Legoland Discovery Center Dallas/Fort Worth will unveil DFW of the Future, a new Lego model display designed by children from across North Texas.

Starting January 3, the new model will be temporarily on display as part of the attraction’s signature Miniland, a walk-through exhibit featuring replicas of North Texas landmarks.

Children were asked to submit their ideas to help design their future city.  Answering the questions, what would it look like, what could be done better?  Winning ideas were selected by Legoland Discovery Center’s Master Model Builder and incorporated into a cityscape model display, which took him 90 man-hours to build and over 40,000 Lego bricks.

“We can use solar panels on more of our buildings.  People can get around on hover boards instead of just cars.  City buildings will have slides on the outside like an elevator.” - age 9, Midlothian

“Our future city will be a cool, loving place.” - age 10, Plano

“I would make indoor playgrounds. The buildings will be so tall and have TV’s on them.” - age 7, Dallas

“The city of the future should have more skyscrapers, so less land is used.  There should be more parks and wildlife preservations.” - age 10, Sanger

“Our future builders felt parks, wild life preservations, conservation and solar power were some of their top priorities,” said James Wilson, Master Model Builder.  “We have several unique and over-the-top buildings including a gummy bear house.”
