Want to boost your child's reading level? Test taking skills? Study strategies?....or simply tackle that summer reading list? We offer exciting 2-week camps incorporating stimulating reading and language comprehension activities to boost reading skills,academic achievement and test taking strategies. Learning to Read Ages 5-7 (grouped by ability) Students focus on decoding with some emphasis on comprehension. Camps limited to groups of 2-4. Sessions are structured so that each student enjoys both motivating group activities and is pulled out for one on one attention from instructor each camp day. Cost - $295.00 June 6 - 17 // 9:30 - 11:30 am August 1-12 // 1:00 - 3:00 pm Reading To Learn (grouped by grade/ability) Primary focus of this camp is reading comprehension with some emphasis on building reading fluency. Vocabulary building, use of context clues, resolving ambiguity and making inferences are addressed. Strategies to foster active reading and interaction with the material are presented. Home guides provided for parents to help students practice their newly learned skills after camp is over. Sessions are structured so that each student enjoys both motivating group activities and is pulled out for one on one attention from instructor each camp day. Cost - $295.00 June 6 - 17 // 9:30 – 11:30 August 1-12 // 1:00 -3:00 Study Skills/Time Management (Middle through High School) Strategies to improve note taking from lecture and text are presented and then practiced. Each daily session will challenges the students to use calendar’s to document and plan for homework/test/sport activities. Practical experience is provided within each session to ensure that these skills are automatic. Cost - $295.00 July 18-29 // 1:00 - 3:00 pm August 8-19 // 9:30 - 11:30 am Book Club Students are provided with an individualized reading journal and a daily plan with questions specific to the book(s) targeted during the session. Student’s summer reading list should be provided with application to help instructors prepare. Group instruction in literary elements is provided throughout the 2-hour daily session, as students are alternately pulled from group session to receive individual instruction specific to their daily reading. Group size is limited to four Cost - $295.00 July 18-29 // 9:30 – 11:30 pm August 1-12 // 3:00 - 5:00 pm Written Language Students will address grade appropriate written language skills, from building strong sentences to writing powerful paragraphs and essays. Sentence complexity, including use of adjective and effective sentence order, will be addressed. For older students, summer reading requirements may be built into the program of expository writing. Proofing and editing will be addressed with all ages. Cost - $295.00 July 18-29 // 9:30 – 11:30 pm August 8-19 // 1:00 – 3:00 pm Back to School Refreshed (One of our most popular!) Campers who participated in sessions earlier in the summer will be invited back for this week to address carry-over of goals from their initial camp experience. Each participant will address the goals for reading, writing or study skills established in the initial camp….just in time to use them in school! Cost - $125.00 August 15-19 // 9:30 – 11:30 pm
